Thank you for considering counseling and online therapy with me!
I counsel people who strive to excel and do good in the world. Though resilient and generally successful, they sometimes struggle to keep up and feel ineffective, overwhelmed, or isolated. They make it through each day but recognize things aren’t quite right or worry they are one crisis away from collapse. They may struggle with self-care or cope in unhealthy ways. They often reach out to me for professional support when experiencing life’s big changes and challenges: increasing responsibilities of adulthood, career transitions or stressors, parenthood and parenting challenges, relationship crossroads, family conflict/crisis, relocation, recent or past trauma, grief and loss, religious/spiritual/existential trials, and for stress associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic.
These hurdles and transitions are difficult to manage and sometimes result in feeling stuck or experiencing increased symptoms of anxiety, depression, attention deficit (ADHD), or posttraumatic stress (PTSD). Past issues and challenges sometimes arise simultaneously. Therapy is an opportunity to recalibrate within a dynamic life: to sort out your situations, relationships, thoughts, feelings, and actions, achieve balance, improve focus, increase mindfulness, and grow! Once your critical goals are met and you experience relief, you are welcome to continue therapy to maintain and expand wellness.
Informed by 16 years of intensive counseling experience, including 5 years in private practice and 8 years at Harborview Abuse & Trauma Center, I am well-prepared to provide vital support in your time of need. I offer a calm, caring, strategic, socially aware, and good-humored approach to therapy. I have a broad range of counseling experience and love working with diverse people on a variety of different concerns and goals. I extend a special invitation to men, first responders, and so many others reluctant to seek therapy in a culture influenced by toxic masculinity and mental healthcare stigma. Over time, I have noticed that some people are especially drawn to work with me:
People working in stressful careers struggling with mood, motivation, focus, and work-life balance
People experiencing social anxiety, avoidance, isolation, conflict, or depression
People suffering with intrusive thoughts, avoidance, negative beliefs, and hypervigilance associated with trauma
People processing systemic, existential, and spiritual concerns for the community, planet, and humanity
Young-adult and middle-aged men striving to adapt and grow through life’s transitions and challenges
I am currently accepting new clients for telehealth counseling/online therapy. My clients and I adapted nicely to counseling via video calls during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Online therapy has proved effective in clinical trials and offers convenience and flexibility for busy clients. Plus, my online practice allows me to serve clients beyond the Space Needle’s shadow throughout greater Washington State!
